All contractors bidding on this project must be pre-qualified by the North Carolina Department of Transportation in order to be considered for contract award. In addition, all prime contractors must have a Dun and Bradstreet DUNS Number. All Contractors must have proper licenses as required under the state laws governing their respective trades. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the bid total. Bonds are required by law on construction and repair contracts subject to formal bidding requirements (N_C.G.S. 143-129 et seq. They should be signed by the contractor, and his signature should be acknowledged with the appropriate acknowledgement form. Next, the bonds, in approved form, must be signed by the authorized agent of the Surety Company issuing the bonds, and an executed Power of Attorney document authorizing the agent to sign must accompany the bond documents. Bonds should not be dated. Bonds will be dated on or after the contract date by the Town. The Town of Knightdale reserves the right to waive any informalities or minor defects or reject any and all bids.
