Renovation of a water / sewer project in Belchertown, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The purpose of this project is to clean and rehabilitate the McLaughlin State Fish Hatchery well #3 and to perform general maintenance on the vertical turbine pump and motor. Redevelopment of the well shall be by the Aqua Freed process or approved equal and shall include mechanical scrubbing, pumping and surging. Work on the well must be done between 8/1/22 and 9/30/22. MCLAUGHLIN HATCHERY WELL #3: Well #3 is located in the well field in the northeast corner of the McLaughlin State Fish Hatchery property in Belchertown, MA. It was installed in 1968. The well is located in a pit vault. Estimated TDH is 92.0 feet. The well is 47.5 feet deep (from the bottom of the pit vault). The 120 slot, stainless steel screen is 10 feet long. The well casing is 18". The bottom of the screen was plugged with cement in 2007. The original capacity of the well after installation in 1968 was 880 gpm. The well was redeveloped in 2013 by acid cleaning and pump surging. Currently, it produces approximately 300 gpm.
