Saving Project...

Site work and paving for a civil project in Kent, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.

Replacement of a wood stave culvert on Chaplin Road, which crosses the Maria Slough at an intersection point between the District of Kent and Seabird Island Band Reserve. The existing culvert is of indeterminate age but appears very old, and shows signs of wear, including missing boards near the inlet and outlet and development of small sinkholes in these areas. The culvert also surcharged during the November 2021 extreme rainfall event, indicating it is undersized for a 1/200 year rainfall event. Design must also include road restoration to the same pavement thickness and width as the existing location at Chaplin Road. TIMELINE: Request for proposal seeking qualified engineering and environmental design services is closed; preferred proponent is unreleased. Further update in fall 2024, upon budget approvals.
