Install VFD's for Cooling Towers located at 1705 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35294 at which time they will be opened and read. Prime Contractors that are properly licensed for this type of work are required to prequalify in order to bid. Applicants for Prequalification are strongly encouraged to submit applications at the earliest date possible following the first date of advertisement. UAB will review applications as submitted and notify applicants within two (2) working days of submission. Applications received after the date of the Pre-bid Conference may not be considered. Est. $650,000.00 to $900,000.00 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. The Project is primarily to replace (5) existing obsolete Reduced Voltage Soft Start Starters (RVSS) with (5) New Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and (5) New RVSS Bypass Units. This requires rebuilding the existing Square D Motor Control Center (MCC) and providing a new MCC since there is inadequate room to do all in the existing MCC. Along with installation, programming for the new VFD's and RVSS's will be required as well as integration into the SCADA System so that the Central Plant Personnel can see the data and control from the Control Room. There is also some additional Water level Control required as part of the Controls Portion of the work. Work will be performed while the plant is in operation. The rebuilding of the existing MCC will have to occur in months when the load on the Plant is minimal, i.e. October-March. All work shall be coordinated with UAB Central Plant Operations and UAB Project Management.
