Site work for a water / sewer project in Houston, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

A. Work of the Contract is for construction of approximately 2,100 LF of new 4'x2', 5'x2', and 2-5'x2' box storm sewer to replace the existing storm sewer on Ledge Street from Clearwood Street to the IH 45 southbound frontage road, WBS No. M-000288-0001-3, as shown on the contract drawings. B. Work on the contract is for construction of a new storm sewer system and appurtenances under existing pavement. Cut and restore of existing pavement for installation of new storm sewer is required. The work also includes minor sanitary sewer line replacements, lowering of water lines, tree protection, storm water pollution prevention, and traffic control plan. The work includes obtaining necessary permits from City of Houston and other jurisdictional entities, governmental and non-governmental. C. Demolition and removal work includes but is not limited to cut and restore of existing concrete pavements, remove and replace curbs and gutters, remove and replace sidewalks, inlets, storm sewer, and other items to facilitate construction of project. The work includes the removal and disposal of miscellaneous abandoned utility lines (all sizes), cables, and other existing facilities. encountered during demolition or excavation activities. D. Water line construction along Ledge Street includes lowering an existing 8-inch water line crossing just east of Clearwood Street, lowering an existing 4-inch water line crossing between Clearwood Street and Nathaniel Street, lowering an existing 8-inch water line crossing just west of Nathaniel Street, and lowering an existing 8-inch water line crossing between Nathanial Street and Minnesota Street. E. Storm sewer construction includes abandonment in place, removal and replacement of existing storm sewer, inlets, manholes and leads with proposed storm sewer inlets, manholes, and leads, and construction of a new storm sewer trunk line along Ledge Street with a new 4'x2' box storm sewer between ClearwoodStreet and Nathaniel Street and a new 5'x2' box sewer to approximately 650 ft east of Nathaniel Street. A new double barrel 2-5'x2' box sewer will be constructed from approximately 650 ft east of Nathaniel Street to approximately 150 ft west of the IH 45 southbound frontage road. A new 54" RCP will connect from the junction box to the existing storm manhole where the new trunk line will tie back into the existing trunk line. Storm sewer improvements include new lateral pipe using a minimum pipe size of 24". F. Street improvements include demolition and removal of existing pavement and full depth pavement reconstruction as shown on the drawings for Ledge Street G. Access to driveways shall be maintained at all times unless Contractor notifies adjacent property owner(s) a minimum of seven days in advance of when access to driveways will be denied due to construction, including subgrade preparation and forming, concrete placement, finishing, and concrete curing. Contractor shall provide access to driveways in accordance with City of Houston standard Specification 02714 Flexible Base Course for Temporary Driveways. H. Sidewalk and Ramp Construction Sidewalk work includes construction of concrete sidewalks ranging from 3' wide to 5' wide by 4 1/2 inch thick as shown on the drawings, and other pedestrian elements in accordance with City of Houston requirements, the Americans with Disabilities Act and Texas Accessibility Standards. I. Tree protection work includes clearance pruning, tree protection fencing, root pruning, and other work as shown on the Tree Protection Plan drawings and as required to comply with the City's Street Tree Ordinance. J. The connection of proposed sanitary sewers, water lines, and storm sewers to existing utilities located on major thoroughfares shall be performed on weekends. Traffic control measures including channelizing devices, advanced signing, temporary signing and temporary striping during construction will be required as shown on the traffic control plans. K. Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan Conduct all construction operations under this contract in conformance with the erosion control practices described in Section 01570 and the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans included in the construction drawings.
