Site work for a water / sewer project in Rough and Ready, California. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The project is located in Nevada County just west of the town of Rough & Ready. The Squirrel Creek Siphon is approximately 900 feet long and connects two sections of canal across a valley and creek. The siphon is on four properties and is only used from April 15 through October 15. The existing steel pipe is buried within the two hill sides on either side of Squirrel Creek and spans across the creek uncovered for approximately 80 feet. It is primarily supported by two steel braces on either side of the creek (Support 1 and Support 2). It also exists within a 30-inch corrugated metal pipe (CMP) casing under Rough & Ready Highway. The District intends to replace the entire 900 feet of existing pipe with new pipe in the same location and alignment.
