The college seeks a landscape design firm to develop a master plan related to exterior spaces at all locations to help provide an integrated campus feel and a consistent exterior look among all Gaston College locations. The college currently operates the Dallas Campus, Kimbrell Campus, and the Lincoln Campus. Dallas and Kimbrell campuses are both located in Gaston County. Lincoln Campus is in Lincoln county. The overarching themes of this project are to develop a master plan related to exterior spaces, include a focus on campus beautification, outdoor learning and gathering spaces, connecting to the community, and inclusion of native and low maintenance seasonal plants appropriate to the spaces. The college will use the developed master plan to implement design in a phased approach. Items included in the master plan may include and/or focus on brand-integrated signage, irrigation systems, water features, improvements to permanent water structures already located on the Dallas, Kimbrell and Lincoln campuses, and consideration of microclimates. The college is interested in low maintenance landscaping and exterior features to uphold cleanliness and professionalism of college spaces as well as expanding programming to outdoor learning labs and classrooms. Areas for students and employees to congregate in a relaxed environment is important. Student artwork and sculptures may be incorporated across campuses. Additional items for consideration may include implementation of blue light emergency stations, implementation of a comprehensive plan for water management including collection basins, drip systems for watering plants, and outdoor wellness activities such as walking trails, benches, and community nature trails, and farm-totable initiatives. This master plan should address sufficient outdoor lighting and surveillance from a safety and security standpoint and power and internet access needs. Digital signage and integration to the college's mobile app to provide information about seasonal plants around the campuses may be implemented. In order to offer architectural, engineering, or landscape architectural services in response to this solicitation, the proposing firm must be properly licensed to practice Architecture, Engineering, or Landscape Architecture in the State of North Carolina.
