GRU is seeking Contractor(s) to provide fixed pricing for protective measures to the utility infrastructure at 36 neighborhoods in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida by upgrading select corner, dead-end and mid-run tangent wooden utility poles with new, higher-rated wooden utility poles. In addition, guys and anchors will be installed where necessary to provide lateral support for poles supporting pole mounted transformers or other electrical distribution equipment. In total, GRU is planning to upgrade 852 utility poles, including 254 Rear Lot (R/L) dead end poles; 35 R/L corner poles; 365 Front Lot (F/L) dead end poles and 198 F/L corner poles in various neighborhoods. This utility mitigation project intends to minimize the loss of electrical service within the project area by providing protection against 141 mph winds or wind speed protection and impact requirements indicated by applicable codes and regulations. Activities shall be completed in strict compliance with Federal, State and Local applicable Rules and Regulations. Establish requirements for replacing wood poles of various sizes and locations including front and rear lot, containing primary and secondary conductors, equipment and associated materials. All existing material and equipment is to be transferred from existing pole to the new (to include any and all UGE risers) with the exception of the messenger cable (remove only). If the material cannot be reused, due to no fault of the contractor, a replacement will be issued. All remains of the old pole, equipment and material will be returned to a designated location of GRU's choosing. This project consists of approximately 1000 poles to be changed but may be reduced if contract costs exceed budgets.
