Site work for a water / sewer project in Gainesville, Florida. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

As of January 25, 2023, the project has been awarded. A timeline for construction has not been confirmed. This project includes the design and installation of an upflow filter at the wet detention pond at the intersection of NE 35th Avenue and NE 4th Street located in the City of Gainesville. The objective of the project is to enhance the existing treatment processes and remove additional nutrients from the pond outflow. The upflow filter will retain solids and use biosorption activated media (BAM) to remove dissolved contaminants, particularly nitrogen and phosphorus. The proposed filter, in conjunction with the existing wet detention pond, will form a treatment train that will provide improved water quality to downstream water resources including Springstead Creek and Hogtown Creek. This wet detention pond is owned by Alachua County (OWNER) and receives stormwater runofffrom approximately 10.6-acres of commercial land uses along and around North Main Street in Gainesville. The detention pond discharges to the north under NE 35th Avenue to a channelized section of Springstead Creek, which is a tributary of Hogtown Creek. Board of County Commissioners of Alachua County, Florida is calling for and requesting Bids for the purpose of selecting a contractor to furnish all labor, materials, equipment and apparatus for the construction of Main Street Detention Pond Outflow Filter All work shall be done in accordance with the Bid Instructions and Scope of Service known as the Invitation to BID (ITB). Alachua County has adopted a 15% participation goal and policies which encourage participation of Small Business Enterprises (SBE) in the provision goods, services and construction.
