Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Rye Brook, New York. Conceptual plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

The project seeks to fill in gaps in the sidewalk network along US 1 from New York to Stamford and upgrade existing sidewalks along this corridor to improve ADA accessibility to the maximum extent practicable. This includes new curb ramps where none currently exist and upgraded ramps where they do not meet current ADA standards. The project also seeks to make accessibility improvements to signalized intersections along US 1 where necessary. This is an effort to improve safety by creating safe, accessible and dedicated travel paths for pedestrians and increase connectivity throughout Greenwich. Bridging gaps in the sidewalk will also reduce the necessity for pedestrians to cross back and forth on high volume Route 1. DPW will utilize existing inventories to create a priority list for sequencing proposed improvements. CTDOT Encroachment Permits are required. Design will be completed by DPW staff. Funding in the amount of $3.1M was appropriated to this project in FY 22/23; pursuant to CTDOT grant requirements, additional funding is requested herein to cover the difference. This additional funding will be 100% funded by CTDOT. This project is included in the Town of Greenwich FY 2024-2029 CIP. It will be designed in house.
