Includes installation of three rows of 15- to 25-footlong rock dowels with anchored steel mesh to stabilize the existing slope, construction of two and three rows of gabion baskets in. the upper portion of the slope to retain shoulder fill, and installation of a rock dowel supported ships ladder with upper landing (per Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 296-876-60015 Notes 1 and 2). Work also includes road, excavation at a secondary location in close proximity to the above-described. work. Road excavation will be mostly unclassified excavation and paid for Force Account Work where approximately 100 feet of the roadway will be shifted 3 to 4 feet into the ditch line (away from the failure). The location of the proposed work is five miles east, of Highway 9 off Old Day Creek Road, south of South Skagit Highway.
