Bids will be received for the separate contract for tree removal and stump grinding at Severt Hills and Millerwood Apt's. at the office of Marion Redevelopment and Housing Authority. Any BIDDER, upon returning the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS within 10 days and in good condition, will be refunded the deposit for no more than two sets and any non-bidder upon so returning the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS will be refunded one-half the payment. Each bidder must furnish with his bid a certified check or an acceptable Bid Bond in the amount of 5 percent of his base bid. The successful bidder shall be required to provide a bond equal to the amount of the contract and furnish liability insurance as set forth in the specifications. Bidder's attention is invited to the requirements of Title 54.1, Chapter 11, of the Code of Virginia, pertaining to registration. The procedure for withdrawal of bids shall conform to procedure (i) Section 11-54 of the Code of Virginia. A mandatory pre-bid conference will be held on August 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM (Local Time). If a contract is for seventy thousand dollars ($70,000) or more, or if the total value of all construction, removal, repair, or improvements undertaken by the bidder within any twelve-month period is five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) or more, the bidder is required under Title 54, Chapter 11, Code of Virginia (1950) as amended, to show evidence of being licensed as a "Class A Contractor." If a contract is fifteen hundred dollars ($1,500) or more but less than seventy thousand dollars ($70,000), the bidder is required to show evidence of being licensed as a "Class B Contractor."
