The proposed project will take place on Washougal Oaks Natural Area in southeast Clark County, which is managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The project includes the demolition and removal of two houses and a barn on two separate parcels. The purpose of the demolition is to return the area to its natural condition. Soil disturbance will be kept to a minimum. Heavy equipment should be thoroughly cleaned prior to work to prevent the introduction of weed seeds. An asbestos survey was completed on January 2nd, 2020 and October 20th, 2020. Asbestos was determined to be present in both houses but not the barn. All asbestos must be abated prior to removal of the structure. The estimated cost of the project is $97,853, and the required substantial completion date is December 31, 2022.
