CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS: A. Block 1, All woody stems 4" DBH and under (estimated 213 stems/acre) including mountain laurel, are to be mowed and mulched, in the entire 351-acre block. Other shrubs mixed with mountain laurel may be mowed as necessary. No stems larger than 4 inches DBH are to be damaged B. All employees must be able to identify species. C. Usable material may not be removed from site. D. Woody material felled with clean cuts must have stumps that are parallel to the ground surface and shall not exceed six (6) inches in height measured on the side next to the highest ground or the diameter of the stump, whichever is smaller, except when in the opinion of the Field Contract Coordinator, said height is impractical. E. Cut trees must be removed from trails, roads, tail drains, streams, and utility rights-of-way. F. All trees shall be felled so tops do not pile on one another but lie singly on the ground. G. Slash shall be lopped to no higher than 4' and pulled apart as directed by the Regional forester. H. Operator shall exercise care and caution in all operations to prevent damage to all trees not specified for treatment. I. All tops must be pulled back 25 feet from the State Game Land boundary, (blazed & painted white), all roads, parking lots, herbaceous openings, utility Right of Ways and deer exclosures. Tops, branches and slash will be removed from all ponds, lakes and streams. VI. CONTRACT REQUIREMENTS: A. The site inspection will attempt to provide prospective bidders with a perspective on conditions common to all projects, including vegetation for control, topography, site challenges (rock, downed logs, density of reserved trees, etc.) Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend a site tour or visit the project area on their own prior to bidding. C. SCOPE OF WORK: A. The Pennsylvania Game Commission, Forestry Division, requires the services of an Operator to mow interfering woody vegetation on a location containing 351 acres within one block. Services shall include, but are not limited to, the furnishing of all materials, labor, equipment, tools, superintendence, miscellaneous items, and performing all work necessary to complete the project to the satisfaction of and subject to the approval of the Commission. B. All contractors, subcontractors and consultants of the Buyer must be pre-approved by the Commission. The Commission reserves the right to reject any subcontractor at its sole discretion. If Contractor enters into any subcontract(s) not previously approved by the Commission, the Commission shall have the right to require the Contractor to terminate such contracts.
