Demolition, site work and new construction of a library in Thonotosassa, Florida. Design plans call for the demolition of a library; for the construction of a library; and for site work for a library.

Land acquisition, project development, design and construction of an 15,000 square foot library expandable to 25,000 square feet, to replace the existing Thonotosassa Library at a new approximately 36-acre property located on the South side of Main Street, approximately 1/2-mile East of Harney Rd. The new location has been acquired and will incorporate expansion of Thonotosassa Park to provide expanded cultural, educational and recreational opportunities for the community As of September 4, 2024, the project is included in the FY2024 capital improvements budget. An architect has been selected. The Library, Concession Building, Turf fields and lighting and the Thonotosassa Park development where the buildings will be located are all being combined into one bid package that will be coming out towards the end of the year. Although a firm timeline for construction has not been determined, construction is anticipated to be completed in March 2027. Hillsborough County requires a highly-qualified professional architectural firm with substantial and successful experience in the design and construction of public libraries. The selected firm shall be a State of Florida licensed architectural firm supported by requisite in-house or consulting licensed engineers. The firm that will be contracted with, must demonstrate their capability and experience in design, permitting, and construction of public library facilities. The firm will be expected to demonstrate a proven track record of successfully completed projects of similar size and type as that of the subject solicitation. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
