Site work and paving for a civil project in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; and water / sewer project.

The Northcentral Region of the Pennsylvania Game Commission is soliciting bids for the maintenance of Empire Ridge Rd. on State Game Land No. 044, Spring Creek Township, Elk County. The project will involve shaping, topcoat, and the installation of new and replacement culvert pipes. The project area will be on Empire Ridge Road. The attached maps further outline the project location. Specific stipulations are detailed in the supplement pages and attachments. The Pennsylvania Game Commission, Northcentral Region, requires Empire Ridge Rd. be maintained in Spring Creek Twp., Elk County. Services shall include, but not be limited to, the furnishing of all labor, superintendence, tools, and equipment for the below outlined road repairs, as per the attached specifications. The contractor is required to provide the equipment, labor, insurance, materials and all miscellaneous expenses to complete the operation. Box 5038 Jersey Shore, PA 17740-5038 Cell: 814-335-6470 B. Roads to Maintain (line-item 1 - 10,250 ft, price/foot) 1. All specified roads will be suitably drained and crowned (4% - 6% slope) with a road grader or dozer with a 6-way blade. 2. A stone rake and 10 ton vibrating roller will also be required following grading operations. All road edges including berms will be graded and rolled to a contour that allows for the sheet flow of water from the driving surface to an area where it can infiltrate naturally or a ditch if necessary, as determined by the regional forester. 3. All Existing culverts will have entrances and discharges cleaned and stabilized as seen necessary by the regional forester. Turn-outs will be added and cleaned as necessary. 4. Ditch lines will be cleaned and or established as seen necessary by the regional forester. Total Rd. Length to be maintained 10,250 ft C. Culvert Installation (line-item 2 - 280ft) 8 newly installed or replacement culverts will be 18-inch diameter * 30 ft length double walled smooth bore plastic, 1 replacement culverts will be 18-inch diameter * 40 ft length double walled smooth bore plastic, trenched with an excavator or backhoe. New or replacement culverts must be set in a minimum of 4" of compacted 2A gravel. The 15-foot road surface directly over the culverts must be a minimum of 12 inches deep of compacted 2A aggregate. The remaining 2A will be tapered into the existing road elevation on either side of the pipe. This will require 66 tons of 2A gravel for each culvert, for a total of 682 tons for the installations. This gravel is not available on the Game Land and is figured into the topcoat total below. It must be purchased off-site and delivered to the Game Land. Newly installed culverts will also be properly set at correct angles to promote optimal drainage. Outlets will be placed at the natural elevation of the land and have a minimum of 1/4 inch and a maximum of 3/4 in of drop / foot and have head walls and end walls constructed of stone or approved material. Old culverts will be removed from the site and properly disposed of. The culvert locations will be identified by PGC personnel during road improvement operations. D. All newly installed culverts will have concrete headwalls and end walls (line item 3, price/headwall). 1 MATERIALS The precast concrete headwalls shall be single piece units with the following characteristics; 1. Concrete - 4,000 psi at 28 days with 5.5% airentrainment. 2. Reinforcement - ASTM 615, grade 60 with minimum cover of 1-1/2 inches. 3. All exposed edges are chamfered at 1-inch. 4. Materials and construction to comply with the applicable portions PennDOT Publication 408. 5. Layout and dimensions to be comparable to the attached drawings with minimum 12- inch thick walls with an integral footer. E. Topcoat Application 2A Modified Limestone (line-item 4 - 5,200 tons, price/ton) 4,677 tons of 2A modified limestone will be applied over the entire road section to be maintained. This limestone will be applied after the base has been graded and rolled. It will be applied approximately 6 inches thick and be rolled with a minimum of a 10-ton vibrating roller. The topcoat of 2A modified limestone is to be 15 ft wide and required to be placed with a motorized paver in a single pass. F. Seeding Requirements (line-item 5, price/ac) One acre will need to be seeded with the following mixture Seeding Mixture: Exact seed mixture and specifications will be required. No substitutions of other seed mixtures will be allowed. Seed: 5 lbs CRIMSON clover /acre 5 lbs ladino or white clover /acre 50 lbs oats or wheat (seasonal) /acre FERTILIZER: 500 LBS/ACRE OF 10-20-20 LIME: 2 ton/acre of pulverized agricultural limestone MULCH: 2.5 ton/acre straw (100 bales) - no paper mulch SEEDING DATES: Spring - up to June 15th Fall - August 1st to September 15.
