The Kent Regional Service Commission is seeking proposals for residential waste collection in its new K4 Collection Territory. The new K4 collection territory had an estimated total tonnage of 1250.06 tonnes in 2020 and 1239.63 tonnes in 2021. Households for the new K4 collection territory is estimated to approximately 2131.25 houses including seasonal cottages (2019 stats). The K4 collection territory contract will be valid for a little over four (4) years. The residential solid waste collection and disposal services will begin Sunday, November 6, 2022, and will run until Saturday, January 2, 2027. The contract may, after negotiations be awarded for a period of one (1) year following the end date of January 2, 2027. Services covered by this call for tenders 1. Weekly residential organic waste collection from November 6, 2022, to January 2, 2027. 2. Biweekly collection of waste destined for landfills and recyclables from November 6, 2022, to January 2, 2027. 3. Only the following items will be accepted for collection: a. Organic materials i. In clear green bags ii. In paper bags (yard waste) b. Recyclables i. In clear blue bags ii. Cardboard flattened and bundled together (max 4 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft not exceeding 50 lb) c. Waste destined for landfill i. In clear bags ii. Broken glass in box or plastic container clearly labelled 4. Residents may use different means to curb their bags (wheeled carts, permanent bins, tarp or blanket as a cover, communal space at the end of a private access, etc.) The Selected Proposer will be expected to collect bags from all those unless they pose a risk to the workers' safety. In that case, the Selected Proposer must inform the Solid Waste Department that will contact the resident to fix the issue and resume collection service as quickly as possible. 5. Collection may begin at 4 a.m. at the earliest. 6. Weekly collection days will be spread out from Monday to Thursday in the collection territory. Friday will be a reserve day in case of storms or for statutory holidays Service limits The collection of residential solid waste is limited to the following various residential buildings: - Single family dwellings (permanent and seasonal residences) - Multifamily dwellings (duplexes, triplexes, quadruplexes, etc.) - Residential apartments - Special care homes - Daycares The collection of residential solid waste does not include the following: - Commercial buildings - Institutional buildings - Industrial buildings Control Number 17452708
