Demolition, site work, paving and renovation of a civil project in Birmingham, Alabama. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; water / sewer project; for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for the demolition of a water / sewer project.
The scope of work includes replace- ment if the existing Lewisburg No.1 and Lewisburg No.2 pump stations fur- ther described as follows: Lewisburg No.1 The demolition of the existing Lewisburg No.1 pump station in accor- dance with the Jefferson County Environmental Services Department's requirements, the removal of the exist- ing asphalt drive to the existing pump station site, the restoration of the exist- ing site, the location and removal of three(3) existing 1000-gallon septic tanks, the abandonment of approxi- mately 188 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron force main, abandonment of approximately 15- linear feet of 8-inch clay gravity main, site work at the pro- posed pump station site including , but not limited to: grading, compaction, paving and clean up as shown in the construction documents, the installa- tion of a new wet well, submersible pumps, valve vault, associated piping and other mechanical and electrical appurtenances as shown in the Construction Documents, installation of approximately 100 linear feet of 24- iinch ductile iron gravity main and approximately 59 linear feet of 6-inch ductile iron force main. Lewisburg No.2 The demolition of the existing Lewisburg No.1 pump station in accor- dance with the Jefferson County Environmental Services Department's requirements, the removal of the exist- ing pavement, storm drains and inlets, the location and removal of four (4) existing 1000-gallon septic tanks, site work including but not limited to: grading, compaction, installation of storm sewers, paving and clean up as shown in the Construction Documents, installation of a new wet well, sub- mersible pumps, valve vault and asso- ciated piping and other mechanical and electrical appurtenances as shown in the Construction Documents. The Contractor is hereby advised that TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE on this project. The Contract Time for this project is three hundred sixty-five (365) consecutive calendar days from the effective date of the written Notice to Proceed to achieve Final Acceptance. Liquidated damages will be assessed if this time limit is exceed- ed. The Contractor may apply for an extension of time in accordance with the provisions of the Contract; howev- er, such an extension must be approved prior to the Contract Completion Date to avoid the imposition of liquidated damages. Questions concerning meaning or intent of Bidding Documents shall be submitted to Tad Powell, PE, Senior Associate, Hazen and Sawyer, at email tpowell@hazenandsawyer.com no later than 5:00 p.m. local time on September 2, 2022. All questions must be in writ- ing on Bidder's company's letterhead. The attention of all bid- ders is called to the provi- sions of the state law gov- erning general contrac- tors, as set forth in ala- bama code sections 34-8-1 through section 34-8-28 (1975), as amended, chapter 4, section 65 to 82 (inclusive) of title 46 of the code of alabama of 1940, as amended; and bidders shall be gov- erned by said law insofar as it is applicable. The above mentioned provisions of the code make it illegal for the owner to consider a bid pro- posal from anyone who is not properly licensed under such code provisions. The attention of bidders is called to the provisions of alabama code section 39-2-14 (1975) as amended, requiring a nonresident contractor to register with the depart- ment of revenue prior to engaging in the perform- ance of a contract in the state of alabama. The attention of bidders is called to the provisions of alabama code section 39-3-5 (1975) as amended, regarding preference to resident con- tractors. The attention of bidders is called to the provisions of alabama act 2016-312 as amended, regarding not engaging in the boycott of a person or entity based in or doing business with a jurisdiction with which this state enjoys open trade. This project is classified as a class "d" (pump station and package plant facility) sewer project. All prospec- tive bidders must be pre- qualified with the jeffer- son county environmental services department to bid class "d" pump station and package plant projects in order to bid on this project. To pre-qualify with the department and to con- struct class "d" pump sta- tion and package plant projects, each prospective bidder must furnish written evidence of competency and evidence of financial responsibility to the coun- ty. Accordingly, the county will not accept pre-qualifi- cations after august 16, 2022. Bid proposal forms will not be issued to prospective bid- ders who do not pre-quali- fy.
