The expansion joints and gutter system have reached the end of their usable service life. Rehabilitating the expansion joints and gutter system will preserve the structural integrity and extend the service life of the structure. As of August 17, 2022, this project is in Design status. Preliminary engineering has begun and environmental design is expected to be complete in the Fourth quarter of 2022. The contract advertisement is expected in Fourth quarter of 2022 and construction is anticipated to be operationally complete in the Second quarter of 2023. WSDOT - I-5 / Capitol Lake Bridge - Expansion Joint and Gutter System Repair *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
