Renovation of a military facility in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 75,200-square-foot, two-story above grade military facility.
Renovation, Upgrade and Repair for Building 1466 at Fort Belvoir Scope of Work. The objective for this Statement of Work (SOW) is to provide all management, labor, equipment and material necessary for design and construction for repair by replacement of the heating, air conditioning and ventilation (HVAC) system, electrical, water supply, fire suppression, water heater, IT & DATA, and Sump pump systems as required due to flooding damage, including all other associated incidental work and general repairs for Building 1466 as indicated this SOW. The effort consists of but is not limited to all necessary, environmental, civil, architectural, structural, mechanical/plumbing, fire protection/life safety, and electrical/telecommunications requirements. The project is located at Fort Belvoir, VA. The building will not be occupied nor in use during construction. Take necessary precautions to ensure pipes do not freeze during the winter months. The Contractor's design and construction shall comply with the specifications and requirements contained herein. The design and technical criteria cited within this SOW establishes minimum standards for design and construction quality. Background/Existing Conditions: Building 1466 is located at 9325 Gunston Road, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060. It is home of the Institute of Heraldry, designing and developing a wide variety of heraldic devices for Official agencies of the US Federal Government. The building footprint is approximately 75,200 gross square feet, two-story and consists of a repository, laboratory and office space. Due to a fire suppression main separating from its retaining flange, most of the below grade areas experienced approximately three feet of water above the floor elevation. The mechanical and electrical rooms, also located on the ground floor; however, separated from the rest of the basement by a CMU wall, experienced water surfaces of eight feet above the floor elevation. The flooding damaged electrical components, HVAC control systems, electric motors and various controllers, fire alarm panel, Boiler, hot water heater, expansion tank and Telecommunication and IT systems. The electrical room contains a transformer, main power supply, service breakers, IT systems and the fire control boxes. The Mechanical room contains the electrical and mechanical components, motors, controllers, exhaust fans, boiler, and hot water heater. $1-5 Million *The value for this project is based on a financial range.
