The purpose of this RFP is to select a single contractor that can satisfy the County's need for all mowing services in SJC. This shall provide Contractor adequate fleet preparation time for any additional required procurement and the ability to inspect and become familiar with current seasonal requirements and level of care exercised by SJC departments providing service. St. Joseph County conducts the mowing program for many reasons including but not limited to code enforcement violations, safe right of way maintenance, park and recreational area resident use and required county real estate portfolio maintenance requirements. It is the intent of the County to contract with a single contractor that has the capabilities to provide quality mowing services to all areas of the County as required. SAID bids must be accompanied with a Certified Check made payable to St. Joseph County or Bid Bond executed by the bidder and surety company in a sum of not less than ten percent [10%] of the total amount of the bid, or One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000) whichever is less. The bidder awarded the contract will be required to furnish separate Payment, Performance, and Maintenance Bonds before commencing work. The Payment and Performance Bond shall each remain in effect throughout the entire construction period in an amount equal to the awarded Contract Amount. The required Maintenance Bond shall remain in effect for a period of up to five years from the date of final acceptance in an amount of 10 percent [10%] of the awarded Contract Amount. The bidder's attention is directed to the Affirmative Action Requirements and the Insurance Provisions of the Project. All questions/inquiries regarding this RFP must be submitted in writing by the deadline of 8:30am on Thursday, August 25th. Questions/Inquiries may be submitted to the County Project Coordinator and must be received by the County Project Coordinator by the time and date indicated above. The County Project Coordinator will compile a list of the questions/inquiries submitted by all Respondents. The responses will be posted with the RFP. Only answers posted with the RFP will be considered official and valid by the County. No Respondent shall rely upon, take any action, or make any decision based upon any verbal communication with any County employee. Inquiries are not to be directed to any staff member of any department involved in this solicitation except for the County Project Coordinator. The County reserves the right to correct errors or make determinations regarding technicalities or necessary clarifications without re-solicitation.
