The project is part of DEP's Southeast Queens Program to build a series of stormwater spines connecting local storm sewers to major downstream trunk sewers draining to Bergen and Thurston Basins. Capital project SE-842A1 is the southernmost, downstream segment of the Farmers Boulevard spine.
