The work includes but is not limited to, various types of maintenance and new construction throughout the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia. The City of Virginia Beach is accepting sealed bids from qualified individuals and/or organizations that provide various types of maintenance and new construction throughout the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Items include the construction of sidewalk, curb, curb and gutter, asphalt patches, asphalt milling and asphalt paving, concrete entrances, traffic signals, manholes, catch basins, bulkheads, wetland mitigation, multipurpose use of trails, guard rails, outdoor tracks, recreational outdoor construction, ADA improvements, pipe installation, all types of navigation devices and aids, cave-in repairs, construction of turn lanes and any other roadway construction, repairs to streets and any other items generally deemed incidental to roadway, drainage, stormwater facilities, water, sewer pipe, and parks construction. Various parking lot repairs and improvements and various types of demolition of structures. The first one year term will begin upon notice to proceed and will end 365 calendar days thereafter. Upon mutual agreement between the Owner and the Contractor, the contract may be renewed for four optional one year terms (365 days each). A new certificate of insurance and new performance and payment bonds will be required for the second, third, fourth and fifth year terms. The Contractor agreesto begin work within ten calendar days after the date of Notice to Proceed is given to it by the Owner, and that it will carry out the work with such force, and in such manner and order, and at such time and seasons asit may be directed by the Owner, and further that it will fully and entirely perform this Contract, and all work incident thereto, before the expiration of 365 consecutive calendar days. Time is of the essence in this Contract. The Contractor expressly acknowledges that in the performance of its obligations, the Owner isrelying on timely performance and will schedule operations and incur obligations to third parties in reliance upon timely performance by the Contractor and may sustain substantial losses by reason of untimely performance.
