All bids rejected by city Power Plant Renovations Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, will meet at the Council Chambers in the City Hall, 515 Clark Avenue, Ames, Iowa, at 6:00 p.m. on October 11, 2022, at which time and place the City Council will hear objections to the proposed plans, specifications, and form of contract for said Power Plant Renovations, located at 200 East 5 th Street, Ames, Iowa, City of Ames The city manager shall announce the results of the bidding, together with hisrecommendationsthereon, to the City Council at its meeting to be held at 6:00 o'clock p.m. local time on October 11, 2022. The plans and specifications are now on file in the office of the city clerk. Copiesthereof may be obtained at the office of the City Clerk. One set of bidding documents for the above project is available without charge to prospective bidders, subcontractor bidders, suppliers, and contractor plan room services. A fee may apply to additional sets and to bidding documents requested by other than prospective bidders, subcontractor bidders, suppliers, and contractor plan room services as defined herein. The City of Ames Purchasing Division is the only authorized source of bidding documents and bid forms. Bidding documents and bid forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bidding documents and/or bid forms not obtained from the City of Ames Purchasing Division are advised to contact the City of Ames Purchasing Division to provide a contact name, mailing address and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: Demolition of existing restrooms and construction of new private restrooms; replacement of existing window opening with new window and insulated metal panels, and construction of new lobby space within operations area. Substantial completion of the project is to be expected no later than March 31, 2023 Written questions will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. local time on September 15, 2022. All bids shall be submitted to said city clerk on or before the time set herein for the bid opening. Bids shall be made on the Bid Form furnished by the City of Ames, in a sealed and plainly marked envelope indicating it is a bid in response to this notice. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Said bid security shall be based on an amount equal to at least 5% of the bid amount. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed sixty (60) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of one (1) year from and after the completion and acceptance by the City. The City's electric utility is considered a private entity for sales tax purposes. This project is considered to be new construction, re-construction, alteration, expansion, or remodel per Iowa Code. Contractor shall pay sales, consumer, use, and similar State and local taxes for the Work or portions provided by Contractor which are legally enacted when bids are received. The Contractor is responsible to pay taxes on the materials and equipment that become a part of the real property and be included in the bid price. No sales tax exemption certificates will be issued for this project. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
