Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
MnDOT is preparing plans for several bridge replacements on I-90 through Austin, MN included in SP 5080-170 The project area consists of a five-mile-long, two-lane divided interstate highway within the City of Austin. Project area bridges were constructed in 1958 and 1959 and structures are nearing the end of their useful lives . Bridges need repair or are functionally obsolete. The bridges listed below have been identified by MnDOT as having deteriorated elements in need of attention. The proposed project involves rehabilitation of two bridges, replacement of seven bridges, and reconstruction of four interchanges: Other needs that will be addressed include improving safety, walkability, and bike-ability. The current construction phasing would have the Austin bridges completed as follows: S.P. 5080-176 Crossover Construction Temporary median crossover work only - early/separate contract Letting 5/2023. Construction Late Summer - Fall 2023. Traffic impact will be minimal (single lane closures expected on I-90). All bridge crossings and ramps expected to remain open. o The two I-90 bridges over the Cedar River will be replaced. Can you describe any improvements to the anticipated work area needs, construction phasing and timing assumptions, and proposed flood protection during construction (coffer dam design) o Input on traffic control during bridge demo and bridge construction activities, such as beam setting and deck pours. o Since I-90 through Austin has limited right of way widths, MnDOT is also requesting input on contractor work area needs for staging and laydown. The project consists of: o Seven bridge replacements (two of which are over the Cedar River) o Two bridge rehabilitations at 6th Street o Reconstruction of four interchanges o Large retaining walls at the 4th Street interchange o Two roundabouts at the 14th Street interchange o Concrete pavement on bridge approaches o Traffic signal at the 4th St interchange MNDOT - RFP Engineering - Austin Bridges
