Currently, MBR tanks 1 and 2 operate jointly and the same goes for MBR tanks 3 and 4. This is due to a vertical opening against the west wall from the bottom of each tank to the top. If MBR Tank 1 needs to perform a recovery (cleaning), both MBR tanks 1 and 2 will have to be placed out of service. This issue is also the same for MBR tanks 3 and 4. Therefore, in order to improve efficiency during a recovery operation between the two sets of MBR tanks, the vertical opening will have to be sealed. Sealing of the openings will be done by framing forms around the opening and pouring concrete to complete the seal. The opening will become a completely sealed wall between each set of tanks. Each MBR tank can now perform a recovery process without losing treatment capacity in the adjacent MBR tank. Project is included in the City of Riverside's FY 2022 - 2027 CIP. As of September 7, 2022, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available. Design is anticipated to begin in the winter of 2022. Bidding, award and construction is anticipated to be complete by spring of 2030.* *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
