The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Operations Services Division, and Parks and Trails Division requests proposals from consulting firms to perform in depth bridge inspection, wetland delineation, concept development, topographical surveying, geotechnical investigation, and preliminary engineering. The proposed project purpose is to replace the existing Tettegouche State Park Entrance Bridge 3459 (BR01421) over the Baptism River and remove or possibly re-use the existing bridge for pedestrian only traffic. The existing bridge is a 5 span, 383' long steel superstructure bridge with a 140' Baltimore deck truss main span. The structure is rated as structurally deficient and is considered functionally obsolete due to the approach alignment. There are several structural issues with the current bridge that require frequent inspections and expensive rehabilitations. The existing bridge 3459 is considered eligible for the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion C in the area of Engineering due primarily to the existence and significance of the Baltimore Deck Truss Main Span. The term of this contract is anticipated to be from September 2022 - September 2024 with the option to extend up to an additional 3 years in increments determined by the State. The Method of Contractor Selection has not been determined at this Time.
