Renovation of a fire / police facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility.

The District has negotiated a Purchase Order Contract in the supply of ballistic material to be incorporated into the Work. Product information and Contractors related work on District-supplied products are indicated in the Plans and Part 1.12 of Section 01 11 00. Contractor Work shall include, but not limited to, the following. 1. General Construction a. Inspect, verify, and protect district-supplied bullet-resistant materials and assemblies, related components and hardware. b. Coordinate the Work of this Contract Document with work performed by the District as indicated in Part 1.10 of this Section. c. Protection of items indicated to remain. d. Disposal and clean-up 2. Selective Interior Demolition a. Removal, storage, protection of display case, wall-mounted picture frames and other items impacted by the demolition. b. Capping and protection of utility lines indicated to be reconnected or rerouted to new wall location. c. Removal and salvage of door security keypads. d. Wall demolition including door system, transaction window assembly, and transom windows e. Selective ceiling tiles removal, protection, and reinstallation. f. Restoration of damaged improvements to match existing. 3. Wall Construction a. Supply and installation of approximately 48 linear feet of full-height metal-stud partition wall. b. Reroute and reconnect utility lines to new wall location. c. Line approximately 48 linear feet of full-height metal-stud partition wall with Districtsupplied 48 x 96 Level 1 bullet-resistant fiberglass sheets per manufacturers recommendations. d. Supply and installation of base board materials to match existing. e. Paint walls to match existing. f. Relocate, remount, or reinstall display case, wall-mounted picture frames and other items to new wall location. 4. Installation of District-supplied bullet-resistant pre-fabricated assemblies, related components and hardware per manufacturers recommendations. a. Install one (1) 3 x 7 Level 1 bullet-resistant metal frame wood core door with view window and door hardware. b. Install one (1) 48 x 53.5 Level 3 bullet-resistant aluminum frame glazed transaction window with counter and deal tray. c. Install ten (10) 48 x 24 Level 1 bullet-resistant aluminum frame glazed transom windows. d. Furnish necessary incidentals to complete the installation of District-supplied products. 5. It is intended that the Work be completed in every respect under the Contract Document, and such items or details not mentioned above or not included in the Bid Schedule that are required by the Contract Documents shall be furnished, performed, placed, constructed, or installed by the Contractor. The Ports representative will be present at the pre-bid conference. At the end of the conference, interested parties may visit the job site or, if indicated in the Supplementary Requirements, make an appointment to visit the site. Submission of a Bid Proposal Package shall be evidence that the bidder has visited the jobsite and is satisfied with the conditions to be encountered if awarded the contract Liquidated Damages $1,140.00 Per Calendar Day The total contract duration is 45 calendar days. The Engineers Construction estimate for this work is $60,000.00. The bidder must possess a valid California State Contractors License Classification B -General Building Contractor or C-17 - Glazing Contractor, at the time the contract is submitted. No questions will be allowed during the pre-bid conference. Questions or comments regarding this specification must be submitted electronically to our eBid system where the specification was downloaded and must be received by the Port no later than August 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Questions received after the date stated here will not be accepted. Emails and faxes will not be accepted. Responses from the Port will be communicated via the electronic eBid system to all recipients of this specification. Online Q&A Yes Q&A Deadline 08/30/2022 10:00 AM (PDT) In accordance with the provisions of the California State Labor Code, the Port has obtained the general prevailing rate of wages (which rate includes employer payments for health and welfare, vacation, pension and similar purposes) applicable to the work to be done, for straight time, overtime, Saturday, Sunday and holiday work. All labor employed on this project shall be paid no less than such minimum rates of wages. These wage rates are available for inspection at the office of the Procurement Services Department of the Port of San Diego. It is the policy of the Port of San Diego that certified Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) shall have the maximum opportunity to participate in the performance of District Contracts. Certified SBEs with qualifying experience are encouraged to respond to the request for bids. No SBE participation goal was established for this solicitation. Award of the contract, if made, will be within 120 calendar days after bid opening date. A bid guarantee in accordance with Subsection 5.6.2 of the General Condition is required with submission of a bid. No Bidder may withdraw a bid after the date set for bid opening. Bid Bond 10.00% Payment Bond 100.00% Performance Bond 100.00% Bidder shall file the bonds as required by the Contract and Civil Code section 9554. The provisions of Public Contract Code section 22300 apply to this Contract. Bidders are hereby notified that the successful Bidder will be required to provide insurance in accordance with Subsection 5.6.1, Contractors Insurance, of the Section 5.0, General Condition. A Notification Regarding Environmental Conditions has been included as Exhibit A in the project specifications. This notification will serve as the Districts disclosure regarding potential hazardous materials that may be encountered during grading, excavation, trenching, and/or other ground penetration. In the public interest, the Port reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informality in a bid.
