Council Strategic Framework: Accelerate the improvement of County roads This project will provide funding for the improvements on Zimmerman Lake Road which is located in the central portion of the county. Zimmerman Lake Road connects Stone Station Road to Highway 56. The road is approximately 2.65 miles in length and 20 feet wide and has a current OCI of 38.5. This is a highly traveled corridor which is in need of improvements to enhance safety. As part of this project, Zimmerman Lake Road will be widened to 24 feet. Additionally, horizontal and vertical curves will be evaluated and any curve that does not meet current 35 mph design speed will be rebuilt as a safety measure. The project will be initially funded from General Fund Capital Reserve. This project directly supports Council's strategic vision by being a core component of the County's infrastructure plan. The project also improves services provided to citizens by upgrading a roadway in a highly traveled corridor of the County This project is in included in the Spartanburg County FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
