PURPOSE: The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as "VDOT") is soliciting bids from qualified firms to furnish equipment with experienced operators, labor, fuel, transportation (mobilization), tools, materials, supplies, supervision and incidentals as necessary to perform pavement patching and paving of sections up to 500 ft in length on various primary and secondary routes within the Northern Neck Residency PERIOD OF CONTRACT: From Date of award through one year (renewable) QUESTIONS REGARDING THIS INVITATION FOR BID: Any questions regarding this invitation for bid shall be addressed to Karen Altman at Karen.Altman@VDOT.virginia.gov. The issuing office shall determine whether any addendum should be issued as a result of any questions or other matters raised. Provide questions no later than 5:00 PM on September 2, 2022. SCOPE OF WORK: The Contractor shall furnish equipment with experienced operators, labor, fuel, transportation (mobilization), tools, materials, supplies, supervision and incidentals as necessary to perform flexible pavement planning, pavement patching, paving, and trench widening on various primary and secondary routes in Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, Westmoreland and King George Counties. This will include short sections of the roadway, shoulders, and other special paving projects not to exceed 500 feet of continuous plant Mix paving. The Contractor shall furnish all materials required for the work if requested (example - Hot Mix Asphalt and Asphalt Emulsion). Material cost shall be billed at the contractor's actual costs (contractor shall furnish copies of all invoices for materials). There may be instances where the contractor will have to work in conjunction with other VDOT maintenance operations, including other contractors, at a job location in order to complete construction/maintenance projects. All work shall be performed following the direction given by the VDOT Contract Administrator, or designee. Contractor shall conduct the work assigned in compliance to the VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications (2020 Edition or later) and the VDOT Road and Bridge Standards (2016 Edition or later). All traffic control shall conform to the latest VDOT-approved edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Device Standards (MUTCD) and the 2011 Virginia Work Area Protection Manual (VWAPM) revision 2.1 dated November 1, 2020, or latest edition. The Contractor's equipment shall meet Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Virginia Occupational Safety & Health (VOSH) standards. Additionally, the Contractor(s) shall remain in compliance with all OSHA and VOSH personnel, equipment, and safety regulations.
