Reference Number 0000230933 Source ID PU.AC.ON.224221.C98808 Question Acceptance Deadline 2022/09/13 04:00:00 PM EDT McMaster University is seeking to retain the services of a qualified Mechanical Engineer to act as the Prime Consultant to create a Ground Source Geothermal Heat Pump Master Plan. McMaster has an ambitious Net-Zero Carbon Roadmap which aims to have the entire campus net-zero by 2035. A large portion of the carbon reduction strategy focuses on the implementation of a campus-wide heat pump conversion. This requires large areas for various geothermal fields and building interventions to transition the HVAC systems from steam to low-temperature water. Along with the mechanical scope, there will be an increase in electrical demand back to the grid. McMaster has an intricate network of tunnels which provide district steam, and chilled water to all areas on campus. Buildings are powered by a robust electrical distribution network, starting with a set of 50 MVA transformers (115 kV to 13.8 kV), which is then channeled through to a substation located in ET Clarke. From the ET Clarke building, 13.8kV is distributed to all buildings on campus where it is transformed to 600V at the building level. McMaster would like to create a comprehensive Ground Source Geothermal Heat Pump Master Plan, which will provide scope and guidance on the implementation of a closed loop geothermal heat pump system across campus. Proponents will receive an email confirmation receipt with a unique confirmation number upon finalizing their submissions. All submissions must be submitted prior to the Close Date. It is strongly recommended that Proponents give themselves sufficient time and at least ONE (1) day before the Close Date to begin the uploading process and finalize their submissions. It will be at the Proponent's sole risk to assure on-time submission. There is NO extension to the submission deadline unless notified through an addendum.
