Completed plans call for the addition of a educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; for site work for a educational facility; and 10,000-square-foot educational facility.
**As of October 26, 2022, project was awarded to Jay-Van Company but awarded amount is not available.** A single bid will be received for the project. The bid bond shall be payable unconditionally to owner. Bids on the project must be received on or before the period scheduled for the project and no bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the project, for a period of 90 days. All bids submitted must comply with requirements of title 31, chapter 3 (31-3-1 et seq.) Of Mississippi code of 1972 as amended. Award will be made based on the lowest and best bid received in accordance with title 31, chapter 7 (31-7-13 et seq.) Of Mississippi code of 1972 as amended. The owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities. Project Description Plans are being made for additions to the gymnasium at Dixie Attendance Center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The school is located at 790 Elks Lake Road north of the intersection of Elks Lake Road and Creel Road. The additions to the gymnasium will be at the west and east ends of the building. The west addition will have a footprint area of about 2,500 sq ft and the east addition will have a footprint area of about 7,500 sq ft. Based on publicly available imagery and our observations, it appears that the site is relatively level with no more than about 1 to 2 ft of grade change. Each building addition will be single-story. The additions will have a relatively high eave height to match the existing gym building. We understand that the additions will have maximum column loads of 125 kips and maximum wall loads of 4 kips per ft. Each building addition will be supported on shallow foundations and only nominal grade changes of 1 ft or 2 ft will be required to achieve finish grades. It is also our understanding that the existing building is supported on shallow foundations and that the building has not experienced foundation problems. No information on prior earthwork at the site or on plans for connection of the existing building to the additions has been provided
