The Virginia Department of Forestry is looking for a contractor who has working experience and knowledge in planting bare root White Pine seedlings on State-Owned Lands. Planting spacing will be on average ten (10) feet by ten feet (10) or approximately 435 trees per acre. Trees planted must meet the Department's Planting Quality Specifications (included) with final payment determined by the average number of seedlings planted correctly The work consists of hand planting 2-0 bare root White Pine seedlings furnished by the Department. Total acres to cover are estimated at 33.6 acres (see attached map - Attachment A & B- showing areas to plant) with 22.6 acres to plant on Bland Correction, and approximately 11 acres of open field to plant on the Matthews State Forest. Area on Bland will be chemically site prepared by September 30th, 2022, and if weather allows may be burned prior to planting. The Contractor shall notify the State Lands Manager - Ed Stoots (540) 492-0152, three days prior to beginning work. Tree planting may commence on or after March 1st, 2023, and end no later than March 31, 2023
