The Maricopa County Municipal Water Conservation District Number One (MWD) is soliciting Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from Construction Management at Risk firms to provide construction services for a reinforced concrete box culvert within the Beardsley Canal. The proposed project will be constructed at the intersection of Northern Avenue and the MWD Beardsley Canal. The project consists of the construction of the following elements for MWD; 8 ft wide x 5 ft high reinforce concrete box culvert approximately 105 ft long, with reinforced concrete inlet headwall, and concrete canal lining transitions upstream and downstream. In addition, the existing lateral turnout, check, and outlet headwall structures will need modification due to grade adjustments just south of Northern Avenue. Other features of this project will include new canal road gates, fencing, and PVC pipe conduits / vaults on each side of the box culvert crossing. These relocations are part of Northern Avenues half street improvement due to the White Tank Vistas development. Construction within the Beardsley Canal will be limited to MWD's dry-up period between December 2022 and February 2023, although as part of this project there will need to be a pipelined bypass and a concrete lined earthen dam upstream of the Beardsley Canal to pass nuisance flows past the project area during construction and possibly extend the construction duration.
