Renovation of a residential development in Westford, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the renovation of a residential development.

All questions regarding the meaning or intent of this RFP shall be directed electronically to the Office of the Town Manager, at the following email: tmaa@westfordma.gov Questions must be submitted prior to September 14, 2022 at 4PM SCOPE OF SERVICES Creation of Wi-Fi network(s) as described below, and establishment and connection of the ISP service(s). Network Parameters: Coverage To provide a password protected Wi-Fi network with connection to the Internet to cover: o 48 units at the Tadmuck Road campus (Appendix 1) o 25 units and 6 family units at the Graniteville campus (Appendix 2) Target Uses To goal of the project is to provide service to all residents for the following purposes: o Email (via web or POP/IMAP/SMTP) o General web access for transactional use (search, shopping, applications, download forms, etc) o Extended service for cell phones (data and calling over Wi-Fi) o Low resolution, small scale remote meetings (E.g., Zoom, Facetime, etc) o Low resolution, short duration video streaming (E.g., YouTube) Management of Service Networks will be password protected using WPA2. It must be possible to change the access password when required. Devices on the Wi-Fi network will not be allowed to communicate with each other, except via external servers ("client isolation"). Although they may not be used initially the following features must be available: o The ability to establish a bandwidth cap for all devices o The ability to block particular service types such as o high resolution media streaming o IOT streaming devices o Web site hosting o The ability to apply global filters based on URLs or content category o The ability to maintain a list of devices that may not join the network, based on MAC address User Problem Resolution As WHA has no internal technical support capability the objective is to make the support process as simple as possible. Documentation in the form of a decision tree must be provided which will allow the WHA office staff to determine that the fault is in one of three categories: o A user device or use problem. Residents are responsible for resolving this themselves. o A problem with the network infrastructure. WHA will have a support agreement of some kind with the installer to cover faults and failures in the equipment. o A problem with the Internet service from Verizon, Comcast, or whoever the provider is. WHA would report the fault to the provider. Expected Solution The town is anticipating that respondents will propose a solution involving multiple 2.4/5 GHz access points at each site, interconnected with some kind of mesh technology. At each site it is expected that there will be one ISP connection with a firewall/gateway device to provide the management capabilities described above. It is not expected that there will be any need for significant cabling work at either location
