This project is the rebuilding of Hartwood Elementary School. Hartwood Elementary, originally constructed in 1963, is located on a 29.6-acre site. There have been three additions built onto the original building. The project scope will be to rebuild the school on a new site. The new school will have County water and sewer. This school will serve grades kindergarten through fifth, with an anticipated design capacity of up to 964 seats. This project includes the construction of the school building, site development, all on-site road improvements, parking lots, stormwater management requirements and utilities. Planning and design requirements are included in the project cost, as are furniture, fixtures, equipment, technology infrastructure, and project management. Estimates also include the cost of land. SCPS elementary school education specifications and design standards will be updated prior to the start of design, however, staff estimates the total square footage to be up to 107,500 square feet. We have used VDOE cost data to establish the cost estimate for the replacement school. This project is in included in the Stafford County FY 2023 - 2032 Adopted Capital Improvement Program.
