Reference Number: 1788029 Deadline for receiving complaints: 2024-01-04 McGill University is planning a complete interior renovation of the currently vacant Gate House building located on Avenue des Pins behind the Lyman Duff Medical Sciences Building with the main entrance on Rue University. The Gate House is a 4-storey stone building (and basement) with a pitched roof with an approximate floor area of 79 m2 and is connected to the Lyman Duff Building by means of an existing walkway on the 3rd floor level of the Gate House. The aim of the work is to transform the damp laboratories into office spaces. The work includes the demolition of building elements, electromechanical systems, as well as distribution and furnishing. Asbestos removal is planned in high-risk conditions. Subsequently, the work includes the realization of a new layout, the interior finishing, the integrated furniture, the necessary modifications to the staircase as well as the supply and installation of new mechanical and electrical systems including a new distribution. The electrical and computer equipment will be supplied from a room located approximately 75 m away and inside the Lyman Duff through the laboratories and for the required connection. Similarly, work is planned to remove an electrical line under the existing (civilian) roadway up to the panel inside the new wing of the Lyman Duff.
