Renovation of a mixed-use development in Aspen, Colorado. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a stadium; and fitness / recreation center.

Addendum: 1 The Aspen Recreation Center is located at 861 Maroon Creek Road, Aspen Colorado. The Lewis Ice Arena is an integral part of the Aspen Recreation Center. The roof over this ice-skating arena is a standing metal seam shed roof approximately 215 feet wide and 130 feet from peak to eaves (Fig 1). The roof panels are spliced in two places due to their length as dictated by shipping constraints at the time of installation in 2002. The splices and the low pitch (2:12) have resulted in chronic leaks, and various efforts to solve the underlying cause of these leaks have not been successful. The purpose of this project is to hire an IIBEC Registered Roof Consultant knowledgeable of metal-over-metal retrofit sub-framing systems and capable of producing an engineered design and fully specified bid packet for a re-roofing project at the Lewis Ice Arena. The design will be for a new roof to be installed that has: Continuous seamless panels roll-formed on site, Tee style standing seams that allow for individual mid-roof panel replacements, and which avoid seal issues typical in the area where clips are crimped into the seam (e.g., McElroy 238T). A Substructure that will allow the existing roof to be overlayed (e.g., Roof Hugger(R) Systems) without removal of existing roof. Correction made to former design so that an eave shall protrude not less than 12" beyond the lower side of the building when the new roof is complete.
