The DeSoto County Engineering Division wishes to receive formal bids from Contractors for repairs to the gateway sign on County Road 769 near the Charlotte County Line. SCOPE This project includes repairs to an existing gateway sign which was damaged by a vehicle. The project site is on the eastern side of County Road 769 approximately 360 feet north of the intersection of Courtly Manor Drive in DeSoto County. This sign was originally constructed using Local Agency Program (LAP) funding provided through the Florida Department of Transportation. This repair project is not funded with LAP funds and the Contractor is not required to comply with LAP requirements such as certified payrolls and Davis Bacon requirements. This project is located within a County right-of-way. The governing standards and specifications are the FDOT Design Standards and Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction which were in effect at the time of initial construction as indicated on the cover of the Contract Plan Set. Generally, the project includes the following work: o Mobilization and demobilization o Maintenance of traffic o Erosion and sediment control o Sod and shrub restoration o Complete replacement of the western column utilizing the existing column foundation o Repairs to the eastern column including replacing the cap and molding, replacing the stacked stone veneer and textured painting of the cap, trim and base o Complete replacement of the sign o Replacement of 2 LED up lights ESTIMATE The Engineer's Estimate for this work is $109,961.23. COUNTY NOTIFICATION The Contractor is required to notify the County's designated representative at least 2 County business days prior to all work-days. All work to be performed between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday and on non-County holidays. TIME FRAME This work will include two phases: a procurement of materials phase and an onsite construction phase. Two separate notices to proceed will be issued by the County for these two phases. The procurement of material phase shall be a maximum of 120 calendar days. This time period will allow for the review and approval of shop drawings, manufacturing of the sign components and procurement of other required materials. Additional time due to material delays may be approved at the discretion of the County. Once the Contractor begins work on the site, they will be permitted 60 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed for the onsite construction phase for substantial completion and an additional 30 days to Final Completion for a total of 90 calendar days from the date of the Notice to Proceed for the onsite construction phase. The time period between substantial and final completion is intended to allow for final clean up and restoration, resolution of any punch-list items identified by DeSoto County and demobilization. Any unused portion of the procurement of materials phase will not be applied to the onsite construction phase.
