Remodeling and renovation of a mixed-use development in Bethesda, Maryland. Completed plans call for the remodel of a medical facility.

Project Description and Purpose. The intent of this project is to repair and renew the nurse call system for Buildings 1, 9, 9a, 10, and 19 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Full compatibility with the facility’s existing nurse call system is very important. The repair/renewal shall meet all current codes, regulations, and standards. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment and supervision necessary to safely complete the activities described in this SOW in accordance with the provisions of the Division 01 Specifications of the base contract, the United Facility Criteria, the US Army Engineering and Support Center Huntsville (USAESCH) Engineering Guidance Design Manual, the Defense Health Agency Facility Operations Branch (DHA FOB), Engineering & Design Best Practice Design Guidance for the Construction & Sustainment of DHA Facilities and all applicable Federal, State and installation codes, standards and regulations. Contractor shall determine the need for/level required and shall install/implement the temporary safety measures and controls necessary to separate the construction zones adequately and safely from surrounding spaces. This work is intended to provide compliance with regulations/standards, and to provide a complete, fully functional repaired/renewed space. 6To facilitate this renovation, Contractor shall: conduct a Site Investigation and provide a Site Investigation Report, conduct a Hazardous Material Survey and provide a Hazardous Material Survey Report, produce a Design for the renewal area, and provide MRR Action. This renewal activity will be conducted in an active hospital on nurse call infrastructure which is currently in use in patient care areas. All outages to building systems require adequate notice prior to any outage. Adequate notice is defined in the Facility Coordination section of this scope.
