As of July 13, 2023, an architect has been selected and this project is in the design phase. A firm timeline for construction has not been determined. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Colorado School of Mines is seeking design services to replace hazardous laboratory controls on campus in the General Research Laboratory (GRL). GRL is home to many laboratories conducting different forms of research and the building controls connected to the various systems serving these labs are outdated. In some of these labs the controls systems being used are pneumatic systems that are no longer supported by manufacturers and cannot provide the necessary control of the building systems. These pneumatic systems as well as the outdated direct digital control systems need to be replaced to provide the necessary and proper control of the building systems. This project will design the replacement of the building and laboratory control systems and greatly increase the reliability of the building control systems, and the safety for the students, faculty, and staff, who use and maintain them. Firm selection involves two (2) steps: Step I is submittal evaluation resulting in a short list of qualified firms. Step II is interview evaluation of short listed firms. The top ranked firm from Step II will be awarded this project.
