Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a transportation facility.
The Transit Department is looking to utilize federal grant programs to construct a new bus barn/administrative facility and maintenance shop. The current maintenance and administrative offices building were built in the late 1970s and the bus barn has fallen into disrepair. The Transit department is continuing to expand our fleet and adding new technologies such as WIFI capabilities, electric charging stations, and is looking for ways to integrate all of these items in a new, more efficient and environmentally friendly facility. As of September 14, 2022, this project is in the planning phase. The owner anticipates selecting a design firm late 2023. It is anticipated construction will start in 2024 and end in 2025. This project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and funding is allotted for 2024. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
