Site work and new construction of a library in Cedar Park, Texas. Working plans call for the construction of a 47,000-square-foot, two-story above grade library; and for site work for a library.
Plans consist of new construction of 47,000 SF, 2-story central library facility for the City of Cedar Park that will be an primary anchor in the city's Bell District. The courtyard space of the new library will be surrounded by dozens of large heritage trees, and have a fenced youth area, gathering spaces, contemplation spaces and an exterior fountain. Materials used on the exterior portion of the building include wood, metal panel, glazing, bluestone, limestone and glazed brick--intended for durability, lasting for years to come. For the interior design, the developers focused on "warm, comfortable, cozy feeling materials" as well as views to the exterior and an interactive youth play area The interior of the new library will also have a story time reading room, low-tech maker space and high-tech maker space--low-tech is hands-on arts and crafts, and high-tech is computer-based 3D printing and laser cutting--a classroom, a teen area, an adult quiet space, group study rooms, a multipurpose room and a reading room. As of October 28, 2022, this project is in design. A construction manager has been selected. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2023 with completion around fall 2024.
