The Texas A&M University System Office of Facilities Planning & Construction (FP&C), on behalf of the Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System (Owner) and Texas A&M Health Science Center, is soliciting statements of qualifications for selection of an Architect/Engineer (A/E) firm for the Nursing and Research Education Building project (#23-3374) located in McAllen, Texas in accordance with the terms, conditions, and requirements set forth in this Request for Qualifications (RFQ). To build upon Texas A&M's 100-year history of serving the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) and to help address the critical nursing workforce needs in the region; Texas A&M Health Science Center is constructing a new Nursing Education and Research Building to address the critical workforce shortage of Registered Nurses (RNs) by offering the prelicensure Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing program face to face in the RGV. Once completed, the facility will be the second building within Texas A&M's Higher Education Center (HEC) in McAllen, Texas. The new facility will allow the College of Nursing to offer the BSN program in a comparable educational facility to the Bryan and Round Rock, Texas, program locations. Not only will the building meet local demand for registered nurses, which is at an all-time high; it will alleviate capacity issues related to student enrollment growth for the current HEC building and expand the community-based research capabilities of the faculty to address the health challenges of the RGV and the state of Texas. The completed facility will include up to eight flexible and technology-based classrooms, clinical skills and clinical simulation laboratories, facilities for standardized patients, faculty, and staff offices, student collaboration spaces, and 5,000 square feet of dedicated space for another Texas A&M University program. This RFQ is the first step in the process for selecting a firm. The RFQ provides the information necessary to prepare and submit Qualifications for consideration by the Owner. The Owner may select the top three (3) or more of the top ranked qualified respondents to present their qualifications during an interview.
