Water system upgrade including a new water treatment plant and expansion to the piped water distribution system. NCLFN is located approximately 320 km north of Sioux Lookout, on the north shore of Weagamow Lake. The community is accessible year-round by road and air. The general scope of work consists of: Construction of a new water treatment plant with underground concrete reservoir and steel pile foundation. The building will be a pre-engineered steel building with a building footprint of approximately 26 m x 33 m. Decommissioning of an existing water treatment plant and a containerized water treatment system. Demolition of the existing water treatment plant building and below ground reservoirs, with the exception of the existing raw water barrel located in the water treatment plant. Installation of a two train pre-selected conventional coagulation/flocculation/clarification/filtration treatment system with a capacity of 1276 m3 per day. Installation of a pre-purchased genset and motor control centre. Supply and installation of new raw water pumping systems, distribution pumping systems, chemical feed systems, process piping, and UV disinfection system. Supply and installation of lighting, heating, and ventilation systems. Staging of upgrades to the raw water pumping system will be required due to the re-use of the existing raw water barrel for the new treatment system. Construction of a freestanding truckfill structure at the existing truck garage. TIMELINE: Project awarded. Contract value is unreleased. Construction underway.
