Site work and paving for a civil project in Mount Airy, North Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.

The project includes the construction of 6,725 linear feet of new paved greenway trail adjacent to the Ararat River and approximately 2,889 linear feet of enhancement and restoration to the Ararat River. The Project includes installation of a 50 linear-foot pedestrian bride structure, 145 LF of sidewalk, picnic shelters, bike racks, benches and signage along the new extension and installation of outdoor fitness equipment on a previously completed section of greenway. The new paved trail construction will meet ADA compliance and FEMA "No-Rise" certification requirements. The project construction will include alterations to two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Levee Systems to include grading and paving, at grade modifications to a levee wall gate closure structure and railroad crossing, and drainage structures. The project will include the installation of a 50-foot prefabricated pedestrian bridge across a perennial stream, installation of approximately 145 LF of new pedestrian sideway at the north trail terminus near Advanced Electronic Services (AES) and Riverside Drive. The Greenway project will make use of existing right of ways and acquired easement acquisitions. Ararat River Restoration The project scope of work includes enhancement and restoration of approximately 2,889 linear feet of the Ararat River that has been degraded by bank and streambed erosion. The primary objective of the project is to improve and protect aquatic habitat and to improve the water quality within the Ararat River and Yadkin River watershed. The project will stabilize eroding streambanks using bank grading, bioengineering, and vegetation plantings. In-stream structures will be utilized to protect streambanks, control bed elevations, and to improve pool habitat and bedform diversity. Erosion control and safety measures will be a critical aspect of the project. Project construction limits begin at Linville Road Bridge and continue 2,889 feet up the Ararat River. Greenway Trail Equipment and Structures The Greenway project includes installation of three (3) picnic shelters, three (3) Adult Cross Fit Outdoor Exercise Stations, three (3) six-foot outdoor benches, three (3) bike racks, two (2) signs at the start and end of the extension trail, and stone seating and signage for a new Hydrology Pocket Park. The City of Mount Airy will accept sealed bids from Prequalified Contractors for the construction of the Mount Airy Granite Greenway Trail Extension and Ararat River Restoration Project. Completion- 180 Calendar Days
