Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Friedens, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

This project provides for the rehabilitation of Bridge No. B-348 that carries Somerset Interchange over a Tributary to Coxes Creek. The structural rehabilitation includes painting structural steel, replacing abutment cheekwalls, repairing concrete at abutments, installing scour protection, removing longitudinal deck joints, performing deck repairs, installing PPC overlay, installing new scuppers, repairing fascia barriers, applying aesthetic concrete coatings to concrete barrier/abutments, etc. The project also involves roadway approach work including concrete pavement repairs, full-depth shoulder reconstruction, drainage improvements and replacement of pavement relief joint, guide rail and guide rail bridge transitions. Work also includes maintenance and protection of traffic. Major work items include, but are not limited to: 1,398 SY Scarification, 1/2" Depth 699 SY Polyester Polymer Concrete Overlay, 1 1/4" 8234 SF Painting Existing Structural Steel 1,460 SF High Strength Fiber Wrap 414 SF Aesthetic Concrete Coating, White 5,148 SF Aesthetic Concrete Coating, Beige 1,257 SF Class AA Cement Concrete Repairs 19 CY Polyester Polymer Concrete Overlay, Variable Depth 520 SF Mortar Repairs This project is located at the Somerset Interchange, milepost 109.93, Exit 110 in Somerset County. An electronic bid bond, from an approved vendor, with corporate surety, in the amount of five (5%) percent of the bid must be submitted with the proposal as bid security. The bid security of the three (3) low bidders will be retained until the execution of the contract. (The normal time for execution of the contract is approximately four [4] weeks.) A Prequalification Certification and Applicable Capacity Rating assigned by the Prequalification Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is a necessary prerequisite for bidding on this project.
