Due to repetitive street and property flooding, three drainage studies were completed to evaluate and recommend improvements to the Town street drainage system to reduce the frequency and impact from flooding after heavy rain events. These studies covered approximately 10 percent of the Town street drainage system in the center of the Town spreading from Mohawk Drive (North), Farmington Avenue (South), Walbridge Road (East), and Pleasant Street (West). Several areas within these studies were identified as in need of larger storm pipes, storm pipe extensions, and drainage connections from private properties to the Town storm drainage system. Funding in this program year is for the construction of the first year of a multi-year program to improve the Town storm drainage infrastructure to mitigate flooding impacts. The Engineering Division is seeking grants to fund the construction of these improvements. This project is in included in the Town of West Hartford's FY 2023-2034 Adopted Capital Improvement Program and funding is allocated for FY 2023-2024. As of October 21, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
