The need for this project results from the Palm Beach County School District no longer authorizing their facilities to shelter animals during emergency events. Upon evaluation of multiple County facilities, the Public Safety Department identified TRC as the most optimal location for this purpose given its combination of capacity and physical properties. Improvements will bring the facility into compliance with American Red Cross (ARC) 4496 Standards for Hurricane Evacuation Shelter Selection and provide full building electric supply via permanent standby generator.
