The Town of Amherst is seeking sealed bids to remove two (2) natural gas fired furnaces and replace them with a new high-efficiency heat pump system, supplying conditioned air to the ground level of the North Amherst School. Firm must have at least ten (10) years of experience and a proven track record of high quality, professional work in the installation of ductless variable refrigerant flow systems. Firm must have three (3) references who can document his or her successful completion of projects in the State of Massachusetts. SUMMARY OF WORK This design/build project consists of removal, designing, furnishing, installing, and putting into turnkey good operating condition a ductless air source variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump system serving the Lower Level of the North Amherst School. VRF Heat pump indoor units to be located as designed by the Contractor to ensure adequate heating and cooling throughout the Lower Level of the North Amherst School. The Contractor must ensure the system is designed with low-ambient temperature heating capabilities. The system does not need to cool in low-ambient temperatures. The outdoor unit is to be mounted securely to a sturdy frame able to withstand the weight and vibrations; attached to the exterior of the building at least 18" above the ground. Contractor is responsible for coring through the building to accommodate electrical services and refrigerant line set.
